What is your cancellation policy?
Walks and drop-in sessions: 48 hours. Cancellations within 48 hours of the service arranged will not be entitled to a refund.
Overnight pet sitting (1 or 2 nights): 1 week.
Overnight pet sitting (3+ nights): 2 weeks; a 25% deposit will be due 2 weeks before the service taking place, and this will be non-refundable. The remaining 75% is refundable and does not need to be paid until the day before the sit begins.
Do you offer services in the evenings?
Yes, I can offer evening walks, drop-ins and pet sitting. Please get in touch to discuss my availability before making arrangements as my availability for this is limited.
Do you offer day time dog sitting?
I can offer day time sitting if I have availability, however this is very limited based upon when other pre-arranged walks are. Therefore, typically this service would not be available over a lunchtime mid-week. The price for pet sitting is £17 for the first hour, then £15 for each hour thereafter.
Are you available on weekends?
Yes! However, walks and drop-ins will typically have an added 50% charge. There is no extra charge for overnight pet sitting on weekends.
Can you take my dog on a walk when I am out?
Yes! I can either take a copy of your key, or I would happy to collect a key from a key safe. All keys are stored in a locked cabinet when not in use, away from the details of your address. Keys are labelled with the names or initials of your pets.
Do you work with reactive dogs?
I am trained to work with reactive dogs and dogs with other behavioural issues. However, if at any point I feel unsafe working with your pets I may recommend walks being changed to drop-in sessions. I have an MSc in clinical animal behaviour (i.e. behaviourist knowledge) and have previously shadowed on a number of behavioural cases at the University of Lincoln, so feel I am well equipped to work alongside a trainer or behaviourist in implementing a training plan during your pet’s sessions. If you would like to go on a walk during your initial meet & greet to show me your methods of handling, please let me know!
Can you medicate my pets during your visits?
Yes! I am trained for most medications, excluding injections. Please note that the “medication form” must have been completed in order to carry out medications.
What is your veterinary care policy in the event of any emergency?
Typically we would contact the pet’s own vets in the event of an emergency, however based on location we may find it quicker to travel to the closest emergency vets. We will attempt contact with the client and all emergency contacts in the event of an emergency. However, if these cannot be contacted then we will go along with the veterinary advice. Any veterinary care will be charged to the client, unless covered by my insurance.
Details of vets and emergency contact numbers should be provided on the general consent form by the client. I am fully insured for transporting animals.
What does dog walking insurance cover?
Dog walking insurance covers mishaps the dogs have due to my negligence. This means that if a pet happens to fall ill during my care (but not directly due to my care), this would be payable by the client. Likewise, for example, if a dog were to hurt themselves during play or running around, but this is not directly caused by negligence on our side, this would also be fully payable by the client.
This is typical for all dog walking insurance, so please don’t let this put you off; it will be the same for all dog walkers with insurance!
What is your extreme weather policy?
Walks typically do not take place in temperatures above 25°C, or below -5°C, however this will vary based upon the dog breed, age, medical conditions, etc.
Walks also will not take place during thunder/ storms and other weather warnings.
In the event of extreme weather, if we are able to get to your home we will switch the session to a drop-in session and have a play. If, for whatever reason, we are unable to travel to your home due to the weather, a full refund will be given.
During extended periods of warm weather, we can arrange early morning/ evening walks when the temperatures are lower. Depending on location, we can also add a short drop in at some point during the day to allow your dog to use the garden to toilet at no additional charge.
How much notice do I need to book?
We typically ask for bookings to be made by the Friday prior to ensure the correct invoices can be sent out. However, if you need to book a session on the same day and we have availability, we would be happy to fit your pet in! We do not charge extra for same-day bookings.
Please note: All clients must have had a meet & greet visit and signed the relevant consent forms before services take place.
Do you take regular or ad-hoc clients?
We can facilitate both regular and ad-hoc clients! However, please note that booking priority goes to clients with regular bookings (i.e. same day/ time every week). Ad-hoc clients must fit around the regular bookings and availability may be limited depending on the day.
What is the additional mileage fee?
We typically charge 45p per mile driven, but please get in touch for your personalised quote!
What types of payment do you accept?
I currently accept direct bank transfers, however cash payments can be arranged if needed.
Invoices are typically sent out on a Friday evening for the following week, and payment is encouraged by Sunday evening. Provided the payment has been made prior to the service arranged, the session will take place.
